Crest Substation Project

This application displays Photo Simulations completed on the Crest Substation Project. Photo Simulations allow stakeholders to visualize proposed project design changes through the use of photography and highly detailed 3D renderings. 3D renderings are composited into existing condition photographs to provide "before and after" scenarios. This technique helps stakeholders understand what proposed conditions will look like when built.

How to use this application

Click each Photo Simulation icon on the overview map to access a birds-eye view of the area. A secondary icon will appear allowing access to the Photo Simulation. Click and drag the slider on each simulation to transition between the existing and proposed conditions.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The new Crest Substation is approximately five miles north of North East, Maryland and will be supplied from the existing 230 kilovolt aerial transmission line between the Cecil and Colora substations. Upon completion, the Crest Substation will serve approximately 9300 customers. The Crest Substation will improve resiliency of the electric grid and allow the company to continue its commitment to improving Power quality and customer reliability. Additionally the Crest Substation will enhance the distribution automation function that improves restoration of power more efficiently. The Crest substation will decrease capacity demands on both the existing Cecil and Colora substations currently serving customers in the surrounding area.
